Haley & Derek | Southern House and Gardens | Tuscaloosa Alabama
I met Derek and Haley back in January when they were looking for a videographer to film their wedding. They were coming to Birmingham one Saturday morning so we got together in a Starbucks downtown where we chatted and I got the opportunity to hear about their vision for the day. I always love to meet new couples and I could tell that they both knew just the right questions to ask and surely had a grip on what they wanted their wedding to look like but they were just so laid back and easy going. This was going to be a good day.
I always send a questionnaire to my couples a few weeks before the wedding just to nail down specifics. When I got it back, it said “Derek wants to play video games at the venue” before the wedding. You know it’s going to be a good day if you’re playing video games before hand.
And what a wonderful day it was. Haley and Derek’s wedding day was a BIG DAY to say the least. BIG because it was one of the first beautiful days of Spring. BIG for them as they got to celebrate their love for each other. And BIG for the venue, Southern House and Garden in Knoxville, Alabama because Haley and Derek’s would be the first wedding in their brand new chapel. The Chapel was breath taking.
One of my favorite things about their wedding film is just how real they come across and how genuine their love for each other is. From the note exchange moment between H & D, to the moment between Haley and her mom, to the playful banter during the First Touch outside – I just love watching this video over and over again. It was so hard to pick what to put in and what to leave out! Also, look out for a solo from some of the groomsmen towards the end where they sing one of the best songs from the 90’s.
(For those wondering about the video games, the TV was moved at the last minute so the video games got cut).
